Colin Powell, Cheerleader for the Political Class, Should Join Arlen Specter in the Democratic Party

Colin Powell, the most overrated underperformer in recent political history, once again showed himself to be the opportunistic self aggrandizer he's been throughout his career.

The so-called "moderate Republican" who shamelessly endorsed the candidacy of Barack Obama, the man who is leading us towards a socialist-statist debacle that would make George Orwell apopletic, once again demonstrated that he is the cheerleader for the Democratic political class.

In a recent speech to corporate security executives, Powell proclaimed haughtily "the American people want MORE government, not LESS."

Mr. Powell apparently missed the 1 million Americans who demonstrated against more government at the April 15 Tax Day Tea Parties.

Time to leave the Republican Party officially, Mr. Powell.

We don't need socialist-statists like you in the party.

President Obama and his friends will be sure to welcome you with open arms. Why not ? You've been espousing the same anti free market policies for years.

You belong with the elite political class that controls the Democratic Party, those 30 percent of Democrats who believe in socialism, not capitalism.

Joseph Schumpeter predicted the arch of your career 70 years ago. Do the right thing and make it official now.

What does Colin Powell know, anyway. He's the "Republican" that endorsed Obama, then re-assured us all that Barack was "qualified to be Commander-in-Chief" the week before the Russians caught Obama completely asleep-at-the-wheel and nabbed the Krgyzstani air-base that we use to fly-in most of our supplies to Afghanistan.

I don't trust Powell an inch, he apparently feels guilty about promoting the Iraq war (but shouldn't) and is trying to make amends. He will be considered even more irrelevant (if that's possible) when Obamamania collapses in a poof of dust.

And Powell's motivations are plenty suspect, IMO- a guy from Bush's own cabinet promotes Obama... so why has he never endorsed any liberal, inexperienced white candidates before?

Team Obama, the DNC, and their MSM sycophants have been employing despicable Alinsky-esque divide-and-conquer and character assassination techniques for months now… manufacturing synthetic “fights” like Limbaugh vs. Steele, plus ceaseless ridicule of Jindal, Palin, even shameful distortion of the legacy of Ronald Reagan. Clearly, the strategy is to eliminate GOP rallying points and philosophical framework for 2010/12 and create the image of a party in disarray.

And it’s not difficult to see why the Democrats might prefer to banter playfully about made-up GOP “scandals” and irrelevancies like Meghan McCain’s latest drivel than debate Obama’s ongoing destruction of the country.

When their pork-n-welfare spending orgy fails to create any real economic gains -but stokes vicious inflation and crashes the dollar instead- the Democrats face a bloodbath in 2010.

And by 2012? LOL, the GOP could take 40 states running Gilbert Gottfried.

Isn't this a little like saying 'if you don't like this country, then leave it'? The party has changed quite a bit since Powell first became a Republican. I'm sure he subscribes to their original tenets otherwise he would have switched parties long ago, especially given the path they've taken and, apparently, will continue to take. This has transformed many former republicans into moderates. Calling for some of the more common sense voices in the party to pack their bags and ignoring those who have fled is letting Mr. Hyde consume Dr. Jekyll.
