David Letterman Should be Fired for His Sexist Attacks on Sarah Palin's 14 Year Old Daughter

Yesterday the mean and nasty David Letterman tried to talk his way out of the self-inflicted controversy caused by his sexist attack on Sarah Palin's 14 year old daughter.

Here's the big lie he told to justify his latest coarse behavior:

“We were, as we often do, making jokes about people in the news and we made some jokes about Sarah Palin and her daughter [Bristol]... and now they’re upset with me…” Letterman says on tonight's show. "These are not jokes made about her 14-year-old daughter. I would never, never make jokes about raping or having sex of any description with a 14-year-old girl.... Am I guilty of poor taste? Yes. Did I suggest that it was okay for her 14-year-old daughter to be having promiscuous sex? No." Saying he hopes he's "cleared part of this up," Letterman extended an invitation to Palin to come on the show as a guest.

Even if he was initially misinformed as to the identity of the daughter who attended the Yankee game with Governor Palin (all reports agree, it was 14 year old Willow, not 18 year old Bristol), Letterman sets yet another low standard for televised vulgarity.

It's ok, apparently, to make jokes about raping an 18 year old girl, but not a 14 year old girl in his warped mind?

Time for CBS to fire this 62 year old vile man who thrives on sexually intimadating and threatening 14 year old girls in public.

And time for fair minded conservatives to BOYCOTT every sponsor of Letterman's Late Night Show. His time has come and gone.

UPDATE:

Here's a link to some of Letterman's sponsors.

I wholeheartedly agree.

Whoa, who said anything about raping? He just said knocked up.

JCSC asked: "Whoa, who said anything about raping?"

Who said it? Letterman did. Sex with a 14 year old is called statutory rape.

Sex with a 14 year old girl is rape in most states.

People, PLEASE. It was a joke. Letterman apologized. I think it only fair that Sarah Palin apologizes for running for VP. I mean, fair's fair, right?

The "joke" was not off the cuff..it was written ahead of time, rehearsed and an attempt to get Conan off his back. A poor commentary for the American family that we would put up with such.

Dave needs to talk about his "knock up baby"..HARRY..

Quit making it political and realize it's morals and ethicks, something many seem to lack.

I mean really, its not as though he actually raped her! Personally, I don't watch Letterman anyway, but seriously people are being ridiculous! It was poorly written and in very bad taste, but it's just a joke. Now if you're that offended then stop watching. I don't see a need for the march w/ pitchforks!

boycott letterman's show along with his sponsers. tuning into his show is exactly what he wants to boost his ratings. BOYCOTT, BOYCOTT- tune into CONAN'S show to boost his ratings over lettermans-maybe CBS would get rid dave for tainting their programming.

Letterman is a scum monger. He needs to "Man Up" even Imus made a more believable apology....the writers as well need a thumping.

Both Obama and Palin brought out their children during the campaign, but that does not make them fair game for the media.

Is it any wonder we have so much child sexual abuse? Letterman just made it "hip chic" to laugh about it.

And what of A-Rod? He should be filing suit as well. He sure doesn't need this, nor does baseball for that matter.

The main issue is that David Letterman stopped being a comedian years ago. He has since then utilized his celebrity and television show as a political pulpit.

His intent for writing the joke and saying the joke was purely for political gain for what he believes in. It is only circumstance that caused it to come in the form of a joke.

It was a very crude concept as a joke for either daughter. I would say that the protest is not solely about this joke. It is the straw that broke the camels back. It is the much broader picture that the once loved by all Letterman has turned his back on the majority of the nation and threw himself into the political arena as a commentator. Ironically it is something Johnny Carson specifically warned him about never doing.

If David Letterman wishes to continue guiding his show in the direction of political commentating, then he should expect and prepare to lose that half of his audience that disagrees with him politically.

I personally would welcome the old David Letterman back. The one I watched because he was funny.

You are pathetic. I made a valid point of you wanting to stir this up for your own good and you wouldn't post it. Republicans...unbelievable.
